Meet our 2023-2024 Fellows!
Taylor Coonan
About Taylor
Taylor is a graduate student in the 4+1 Human Rights Master of Arts program. She graduated in the spring of 2022 with a degree in Sports Media (Individualized Major) and Human Rights. In her research, she combines her interests in journalism, sports, and human rights. Above all, she believes in the importance of factual and respectable journalism, and the role it plays in reporting human rights violations. In addition to her role as a Makerspace Fellow, she will be interning with the UConn Office of Athletics Compliance. As a graduate assistant, she will be conducting research on Islam in contemporary Britain for a book manuscript.
As an undergraduate student, Taylor was involved in various organizations such as Greek Life, Residence Hall Association, UConn Athletics, UConn Recreation, The Daily Campus, and so much more. She was a campus ambassador for brands such as Margaritaville and On Her Turf, a division of NBC Sports. She’s happy to serve as a resource for every UConn student, helping them find their homes on campus like she did.
Taylor is a member of the Alpha Phi Omega national co-ed service fraternity, where she spends most of her free time. She can often be found walking Jonathan on campus, or volunteering around the community. Taylor is also a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, where she finds other acts of community service to partake in.
A Massachusetts native, Taylor loves all things Boston and the Cape and aims to incorporate that into her work. Whether it’s photography, a collage, some abstract art, or a woodworking project, she thrives on creativity. She offers a unique perspective to her latest creations and seeks to inspire others to do the same, no matter what they’re working on.
