Events

UConn’s Women in Making Forum seeks to highlight and celebrate how women find success within the maker movement. We will celebrate success stories and discuss best practices to navigate obstacles through interactive discussion and empowering skill-building workshops.

Attendees will leave with a renewed sense of self-reliance and confidence in their individual abilities, realizing a deeper sense of self through hands-on learning.

Makers from all across the university will come together to showcase their inventions, artwork, crafts, businesses, and more - come and be inspired by UConn's creativity, and bring a friend! Please reach out if you are interested in having a designated area or table to showcase your work

Teams consisting of two to four members will compete in a bracket-style race. Teams can register to build their own custom car and compete for glory against fellow teams. Once registration is complete, the team leader will be contacted with directions on how to receive their Pinewood Derby car kit which is to be modified according to the Derby Rules.

Month of Discovery aims to motivate students to discover all UConn has to offer in the fields of research, innovation, and creativity. After you register as a participant, all you have to do to earn Discovery Points is check in at one of our Signature or Partner Events, submit a picture of yourself at an event, or provide feedback about an event. The more points you have, the better the prize!

Hosted by the Werth Institute, HackUConn is a 20-hour marathon event that aims to bring together UConn undergraduate innovators across all majors and industry experts for a non-stop, fast-paced innovation competition. Students form groups at the start of the event and combine their technical skills and competencies with the resources we provide such as hacking supplies, 3D printers, laser cutters, and mentorship. The event is 100% free for all participants and funded by our generous sponsors. Throughout the competition mini events will take place such as talks by guest speakers, workshops, and chances to interact with industry professionals. Of course, food and snacks are provided and always free!
